The Intratec TEC-22 Scorpion is a lightweight, blowback-operated .22 LR pistol produced in the early 1990s, prior to the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. This example, serial number 002685, is an early production piece that accepts Ruger 10/22 magazines and features a factory-threaded 4-inch barrel. Designed by George Kellgren, the TEC-22 Scorpion shares the visual profile of the larger TEC-9 but scales it to the affordable and widely available .22 LR cartridge. Its straight blowback action, paired with a single-action trigger and manual safety, keeps operation simple and familiar.
This pistol’s pre-ban status adds collector interest, and the early four-digit serial number points to first-run production. Early production units were subject to Intratec’s 1990 disconnector recall; confirming compliance is recommended.
The factory-threaded 4-inch barrel allows easy attachment of muzzle devices. Fixed iron sights—a front post and rear notch—provide a dependable sight picture, while the matte-black finish on both the stamped steel receiver and polymer frame offers a consistent, utilitarian look.
Magazine compatibility is a standout feature: the pistol feeds from standard Ruger 10/22 magazines. The sale includes a 32-round transparent ProMag and a 10-round Ruger rotary magazine, giving the buyer immediate flexibility at the range.
