This Ruger No. 1-B Standard Rifle is a mid-1980s Southport, Connecticut production single-shot chambered in .223 Remington. Built on Ruger’s famous falling-block action, it combines compact overall length with a 26-inch barrel for full ballistic performance. The rifle features a polished blued steel receiver, walnut stock with checkering, and an integral quarter-rib ready for the included Ruger scope rings.

Ruger’s falling-block design keeps the action short, allowing the 26-inch barrel to deliver full velocity while maintaining quick handling. The tang-mounted safety is intuitive and easy to operate from a shooting position, and the hammerless action gives a clean sight picture.
The No. 1-B configuration includes a semi-beavertail walnut fore-end and pistol-grip buttstock, both factory checkered for secure purchase. The 13.75-inch length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably.
An integral quarter-rib with machined Ruger cuts provides a solid platform for optics; the supplied 1" rings lock directly in place. For shooters who prefer iron sights, the rib is also drilled and tapped for optional front/rear sight assemblies.
The adjustable ejector can be set for positive ejection or simple extraction, giving the user control over brass retrieval. A 1:12 twist rate stabilizes common .223 Remington bullet weights, making the rifle suitable for target work or varmint hunting.
