Product Description

Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun with 28" Vent-Rib Barrel & Lyman Cutts Compensator

Produced in the mid-1960s, this Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade combines the company’s proven four-lug rotating bolt action with a lightweight alloy receiver and a 28-inch vent-rib barrel. An aftermarket Lyman Cutts Compensator is professionally fitted to the muzzle, adding recoil reduction and improved shot pattern control without altering the original handling characteristics. Chambered for 2 ¾-inch shells and finished in classic Winchester bluing over walnut, this full-size pump action offers a clean, collectible example of the first post-Model 12 design.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.
Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Specific Condition Notes: Minor superficial scratches are visible on the receiver and stock, consistent with careful field use. The bore is bright and shiny from chamber to muzzle.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade 12 Gauge shotgun with 28" vent-rib barrel and installed Lyman Cutts Compensator

Winchester introduced the Model 1200 in 1964 as a modern successor to the Model 12, and this example dates to 1965-1966 based on its low six-digit serial number. The alloy receiver trims weight while retaining strength, making the gun quick to shoulder for upland or clay use.

The aftermarket Lyman Cutts Compensator threads onto the barrel’s muzzle, venting gases to reduce muzzle climb and allowing the shooter to tailor choke by changing Cutts tubes (not included). Its ramped base carries the single steel bead, preserving a familiar sight picture.

The 28-inch steel barrel features a ventilated rib for rapid target acquisition and heat dissipation. Chambered for standard 2 ¾-inch 12 gauge shells, the tubular magazine holds four rounds, bringing total capacity to 4 + 1.

Walnut furniture shows cut checkering at the pistol grip and forearm for positive purchase, while a fluted comb and ventilated recoil pad enhance comfort during extended sessions. Winchester WP oval proofs remain clear on barrel and receiver, underscoring original manufacture in New Haven, Connecticut.
