Product Description

CVA Squirrel Rifle .32 Percussion Muzzleloader, 25" Octagonal Barrel, 1985 Spanish-Made

This lightweight .32 caliber CVA Squirrel Rifle was built by Ardesa in Spain for Connecticut Valley Arms in 1985, as shown by its “85” serial prefix. The gun’s compact 25-inch octagonal barrel, double-set trigger, and full-length hardwood stock made it a popular option for small-game hunters until production ended in the mid-1990s. With a browned steel finish and just 5 lb 12 oz of heft, it remains an appealing choice for shooters who appreciate traditional percussion muzzleloaders.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Fair – Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.
Bore Fouling: Moderate Fouling – Lead or copper fouling with noticeable buildup.
Bore Rifling: Fair Rifling – Worn rifling, slight loss of definition.

Specific Condition Notes: The under-barrel hangers that secure the ramrod are missing, so the rod rests loosely beneath the barrel. Exterior metal exhibits widespread browning and a worn finish, yet the lock, hammer, and double-set trigger function correctly.

    What’s Included

    • CVA Squirrel Rifle .32 percussion muzzleloader
    • Factory wooden ramrod (loose due to missing hangers)

Manufactured in Spain by Ardesa, this rifle reflects CVA’s focus on affordable yet accurate small-bore muzzleloaders during the 1980s. The browned octagonal barrel delivers classic styling while the 1:48 twist rate stabilizes lightweight .32 caliber round balls for tight groups.

The double-set trigger lets the shooter choose a standard pull or a light “hair” release, enhancing precision on small targets such as squirrels and rabbits. An external percussion hammer adds reliable ignition and period-correct handling.

Full-stock hardwood furniture is oil-finished for a traditional look and feel, and the 13.5 inch length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably. Brass blade front and drift-adjustable rear notch sights provide a clear sight picture without modern optics.

Though production ended around 1994, the CVA Squirrel Rifle remains sought after by black-powder enthusiasts who enjoy a nimble, easy-carrying gun with authentic 19th-century features.
