Built around a black-nitride treated alloy-steel barrel and black-oxide slide, the Ruger-57 weighs in light yet runs a robust delayed-blowback action that reliably manages the high-velocity 5.7×28 mm round. Front and rear cocking serrations plus a lightening port give the slide positive purchase and reduced reciprocating mass.
An optics-ready top end comes drilled and tapped with a cover-plate—ready for today’s micro red-dot footprints without extra machining. Sights are practical from day one: a bright green fiber-optic front paired with a serrated, fully adjustable rear set.
Ergonomics favor many shooters. The flat-faced trigger uses Ruger’s Secure-Action system with an integral safety blade, breaking clean while maintaining firing-pin safety. The ambidextrous manual safety sits within easy thumb reach, and the magazine release ships oriented for left-hand shooters but can be reversed for right-hand use.
Inside the glass-filled nylon polymer frame, full-length steel rails guide the slide for smooth cycling. The pistol holds 20+1 rounds yet maintains a slim grip profile, making it a compelling option for high-capacity range work or practical competition.
