The heart of the Camp Defender is Winchester’s rotary 8-lug “Speed Pump” bolt, engineered for rapid follow-up shots and solid lock-up. The action works smoothly and cycles shells quickly—an advantage in a defensive role.
A 22-inch steel barrel threaded for WinChoke tubes sets this model apart from most tactical pump guns. The included IC choke gives a wide pattern for close-range use, while the threaded muzzle lets owners swap to other choke constrictions as needed.
The extended magazine tube holds seven 2 ¾-inch shells (or six 3-inch shells), providing ample onboard capacity without lengthening the overall profile. A ribbed synthetic fore-end and polymer stock keep weight down and resist weather, while a ventilated recoil pad and sling swivel stud add practical comfort and carry options.
Matte-blued steel and aluminum surfaces reduce glare, and the rifle-style sights—ramped front blade and elevation-adjustable rear—offer precise aiming beyond typical bead-sighted pumps. The cross-bolt safety sits just behind the trigger for intuitive operation.
Produced in Winchester’s New Haven, Connecticut plant before production shifted overseas, this Defender represents the last U.S. iteration of the Model 1300 line, appealing to shooters who value American manufacture and the model’s quick-cycling heritage.
