Savage Arms Model 440B 20 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun – 28" Vent-Rib Barrels, 3" Chamber, IC & F Fixed Chokes, Italian-Made, 1970
This Model 440B is a scarce, Italian-built 20 gauge over/under produced for Savage Arms by Fabbrica Bresciana Armi in 1970. Contract manufacture lasted only from 1968 to 1972, making surviving examples hard to find, especially in this condition. Light roll-engraved floral motifs, a walnut stock with impressed checkering, and a ventilated, file-cut rib give the gun a classic field look while its 3" chambering adds modern versatility.

Contracted to FABARM in Gardone, Italy, this 440B carries matching serial number 600453 on both barrels and action, backed by Gardone proof marks and the FABBRICA BRESCIANA ARMI import stamp. The Italian date code "XXVI" confirms 1970 production.
The 28" steel barrels are topped with a ventilated, file-cut rib and a steel front bead for fast sight alignment. Fixed Improved Cylinder (bottom) and Full (top) chokes pair with the 3" chambers to handle a wide spread of 20 gauge loads, from light upland shells to heavier magnum rounds.
The receiver is steel, matte-blued, and accented by factory roll-engraved floral motifs on the flanks and floorplate. An extractor-only mechanism keeps the gun simple and reliable, while the single-selective trigger and automatic tang safety deliver straightforward operation in the field.
Oil-finished walnut furniture features a pistol-grip stock with a straight comb, impressed checkering, and a beavertail forend that offers a solid, comfortable hold. With a 14.0" length of pull, most shooters will find the gun shoulders naturally.
