Winchester Model 1400 Mk II 20 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun – 28" Vent-Rib Barrel, Winchoke, 2+1
Winchester produced the Model 1400 Mk II for only a short run from 1968 to 1972, making this gas-operated 20 gauge a sought-after piece for shooters who appreciate early U.S. semi-autos with interchangeable chokes. Lightweight thanks to its alloy receiver, it carries a 28-inch Winchester Proof Steel barrel with a ventilated rib and the screw-in Winchoke system—here set up with a factory Modified choke. The combination of limited production, reliable gas operation, and classic Winchester walnut furniture gives this Mk II a distinct place in the brand’s history.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1400 Mk II 20 gauge semi-automatic shotgun
- Factory Modified Winchoke screw-in choke (installed)
The Mk II variant retains the dependable Model 1400 gas system while adding Winchester’s early Winchoke design, allowing quick choke changes without gunsmithing. This shotgun ships with its Modified tube installed, ideal for general field use.
An aluminum-alloy receiver keeps weight down while maintaining the classic blued finish. Pressed-checkered walnut stock and fore-end provide a solid, traditional grip, and the 14" length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably.
The 28" ventilated-rib barrel offers a clear sighting plane topped with a brass bead. Chambered for 2 ¾" shells and fed by a 2-round tubular magazine, the gun balances fast follow-up shots with a slim, easy-handling profile.
Winchester’s “WP” proof marks, the N-prefix serial series, and shared parts lineage with the Model 1200/1300 pumps underline its place in Winchester’s late-1960s engineering evolution.
