CVA Stalker .50 Cal Percussion Sidelock Rifle – 27" Octagon Barrel, Spanish-Proofed, Factory Engraved
This 1990s CVA Stalker blends traditional sidelock operation with modern shooting conveniences. Built in Spain and CIP-proofed to 700 kp/cm², it features a 27-inch steel octagon barrel finished in a rich browned/plum blue, factory light scroll engraving on the color-case-hardened lock and hammer, and an uncommon ventilated recoil pad. The 1:48 twist and adjustable buckhorn sights make it ready for round-ball or conical projectiles, while the half-stock hardwood furniture keeps weight around 7 lb 4 oz for steady off-hand balance.

What’s Included
- CVA Stalker .50 cal percussion sidelock rifle
The Stalker’s Spanish production run (circa 1991–1994) marked CVA’s transition period between classic sidelocks and the company’s later inline designs. Collectors will note the Spanish proof stamp and serial prefix “91,” indicating early 1990s manufacture.
The browned octagon barrel, paired with a 1:48 twist, delivers reliable stability for both patched round ball and heavier hunting conicals. Iron sights consist of a drift-dovetail steel blade up front and an adjustable buckhorn rear, allowing precise zeroing without aftermarket parts.
A color-case-hardened lock plate and hammer receive light factory scroll engraving, adding subtle visual appeal without affecting functionality. The external percussion hammer and single, non-set trigger offer straightforward, familiar control.
The dark-stained hardwood half-stock incorporates a pistol-grip comb and a factory-installed ventilated recoil pad—an uncommon feature on sidelock muzzleloaders of this era—providing added shoulder comfort during extended range sessions.
At roughly 7 lb 4 oz and with a 14-inch length of pull, the rifle balances well for field carry while maintaining the heft needed for steady aim.
