Product Description

    Iver Johnson Champion .410 Bore Single-Shot Shotgun – Early First-Series, 26" Full Choke, 2 1/2" Chamber

This Iver Johnson Champion is an early first-series .410 bore single-shot shotgun, identifiable by its four-digit numeric serial and forged one-piece barrel lug. Built between 1909 and 1921, it features a 26-inch ribless carbon-steel barrel with a factory full choke and a 2 1/2-inch chamber. Weighing about 5.75 lb, it was designed as a lightweight, affordable American field gun and retains the Champion line’s exposed rebounding hammer and color case-hardened receiver.

    Condition

    Overall Condition: Poor condition.

Bore Condition: Poor – Noticeable dirt, stains, significant corrosion or damage.

Specific Condition Notes: The forend is missing. The walnut stock is cracked and wrapped in tape. Spring tension on the takedown lever is weak. Original finish is nearly gone. Sold as is.

    What’s Included

    • Iver Johnson Champion .410 bore single-shot shotgun (barrel, receiver, and stock only)

The numeric-only serial in the 97 xxx range places this gun near the start of Champion production, adding collector interest for those tracking early Iver Johnson variations.

The 26-inch carbon-steel barrel carries its original full choke, making it suitable for tight pattern work with 2 1/2-inch .410 shells. The barrel remains ribless, as factory-built, and wears a simple brass bead for quick target alignment.

A color case-hardened receiver, forged barrel lug, and single extractor (no ejector) reflect the standard construction of first-series Champions. An aftermarket sling-swivel stud has been installed under the barrel, and non-factory tape secures the cracked wrist and butt.

The shotgun retains its exposed rebounding hammer and break-open action. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches from trigger to buttplate, matching period dimensions for a trim, full-size field gun.
