Lefever Nitro Special 12 Ga Side-by-Side, 30” Barrels, 1925 Production with Full & Modified Chokes
Made in 1925, this Lefever Nitro Special offers a classic American double gun layout with modern 2 ¾-inch chambers, solid steel construction, and matching serial-numbered components. Built during Ithaca’s early run of economy doubles, it combines a color case-hardened receiver, 30-inch blued barrels, and fixed Full/Modified chokes—an attractive package for shooters who want a period-correct shotgun that still handles today’s smokeless loads.

What’s Included
- Lefever Nitro Special 12 Gauge side-by-side shotgun
Serial number 211727 confirms 1925 manufacture, placing this gun in the early production years when approximately 255,000 Nitro Specials were built. All major parts—the receiver, barrels, and forend—share the same serial, underscoring factory originality.
The 30-inch blued steel barrels feature a solid matted rib capped by a brass bead. Fixed Full (right) and Modified (left) chokes provide a versatile pattern spread suitable for everything from trap to upland hunting.
Chambered for 2 ¾-inch shells and designed for smokeless nitro powders, the gun handles widely available modern ammunition. An extractor setup lifts spent hulls for easy removal while preserving the clean, simple break-action feel.
The color case-hardened steel receiver pairs with double triggers, internal hammers, and a top-tang manual safety. Checkered walnut furniture, including a pistol-grip stock with 14-inch length of pull and splinter forend, completes the traditional profile.
