Springfield Armory XD 4" Service Model .40 S&W – Low-Capacity, Fiber-Optic Front Sight, TLR-1 HL Light
This first-generation Springfield Armory XD Service Model pairs a 4-inch carbon-steel barrel with a forged Melonite-treated slide for corrosion resistance and long service life. A green fiber-optic front sight has been installed for fast daytime acquisition, and a Streamlight TLR-1 HL weapon light is mounted for 1,000-lumen illumination. The pistol retains the XD’s hallmark 1911-style grip safety, striker status indicator, and loaded-chamber indicator, giving the buyer a feature-rich, striker-fired sidearm that remains compliant with 10-round capacity limits.

The XD Service Model was originally introduced as the Croatian HS2000; this example bears the Geneseo, IL importer stamp and retains the robust internal design that earned it a reputation for reliability.
Its forged slide and carbon-steel barrel receive Springfield’s Melonite finish, a salt-bath nitride treatment that hardens the metal and adds deep, uniform black corrosion resistance.
A factory-machined accessory rail hosts the included Streamlight TLR-1 HL, delivering high-output white light without the need for additional hardware. Front and rear slide serrations make press checks and manipulations easy, even with the light installed.
The installed green fiber-optic front sight contrasts sharply against the plain rear notch, drawing the shooter’s eye for quick sight alignment. Dual visual/tactile indicators provide immediate feedback on both loaded-chamber and striker status.
Designed around the .40 S&W cartridge, this low-capacity variant ships with three 10-round magazines, meeting capacity restrictions while maintaining the full-size grip and controllability of the standard XD platform.
