Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun, 28" WinChoke Barrel
This early-production Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade pairs classic walnut furniture with the company’s modern four-lug rotating bolt and WinChoke screw-in choke system. Built on a lightweight aluminum alloy receiver, the 12 gauge pump handles 2 ¾" shells and breaks down quickly for transport or cleaning. A 28" Winchester proof steel barrel with an Improved Cylinder choke makes it a versatile choice for upland hunting or clay work.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1200 Field Grade 12 Gauge shotgun
- 28" plain barrel threaded for WinChoke with installed Improved Cylinder choke
- Factory wooden three-shot plug (installed)
The Model 1200 introduced Winchester’s four-lug rotating bolt, locking directly into the barrel for solid head support and smooth cycling. This design allowed the company to reduce receiver weight by moving the locking surface forward, resulting in the gloss black anodized aluminum receiver seen here.
The interchangeable WinChoke system, launched in 1971, gives this shotgun flexibility in the field. The included Improved Cylinder tube pairs well with the 28" barrel for close to mid-range wingshooting, and additional chokes can be added as needed.
A takedown mechanism lets the user remove the barrel in seconds without tools, making storage, transport, or thorough cleaning straightforward. The plain barrel keeps weight down and offers an unobstructed sight picture over the silver front bead.
The straight-comb walnut stock and matching forend feature diamond-pattern checkering for a secure grip. A 14" length of pull accommodates most adult shooters, while the cross-bolt safety sits just behind the trigger for intuitive operation.
