Developed from FN’s submission for the U.S. Army Modular Handgun System trials, this full-size FN 509 pairs duty-ready features with civilian-friendly versatility. The factory Night Sight Package adds tritium three-dot sights for low-light confidence, while the cold-hammer-forged stainless barrel, fully ambidextrous controls, and interchangeable backstraps make this pistol adaptable, durable, and easy to run.

The 509’s striker-fired action delivers a consistent trigger pull and incorporates an integral safety lever plus internal passive safeties for confident carry. A loaded chamber view port offers a quick visual check.
Both the slide stop and magazine release are mirrored left and right, allowing full ambidextrous operation straight from the factory. The reversible mag release can be swapped without tools.
The 4-inch cold-hammer-forged stainless barrel features a recessed crown and 1:10 RH twist, a combination FN rates for service life well past one million rounds. Paired with a ferritic-nitrocarburized slide sporting front and rear serrations, the pistol shrugs off hard use and adverse weather.
FN’s glass-fiber-reinforced polymer frame houses a serialized stainless steel chassis, enabling slide or frame swaps while maintaining the original serial number. Three backstrap sizes let shooters tailor the grip, and an integral MIL-STD-1913 rail supports weapon-mounted lights or lasers.
