Smith & Wesson Model 317-2 AirLite 8-Shot .22 LR J-Frame Revolver, 1.875" Barrel
The Smith & Wesson Model 317-2 AirLite is a feather-weight, eight-shot rimfire built on the proven J-frame. Its aluminum-alloy construction, stainless-steel barrel liner, and 1.875-inch barrel keep overall weight under 11 ounces, making it a practical trail companion and training revolver. As the 317-2 engineering change, this discontinued variant also features S&W’s early 2000s internal key lock, marking a transitional moment in the Kit Gun lineage.

What’s Included
- Smith & Wesson Model 317-2 AirLite revolver
This 317-2 packs eight rounds of .22 LR into a J-frame that weighs less than many pocket knives. The aluminum-alloy frame, cylinder, and barrel shroud—the latter housing a stainless-steel liner—illustrate S&W’s late-1990s push toward ultralight metals.
The 1.875-inch barrel keeps the profile short for convenient carry, while the exposed hammer allows single-action precision when desired. A smooth-face trigger offers consistent double-action pulls.
Fixed sights combine a pinned, serrated ramp front with a frame-groove rear channel, giving a snag-free sight picture suited to field or range use. Black synthetic boot grips provide a secure hold without adding bulk.
Added safety comes from S&W’s rebound slide, hammer block, and internal key lock—features that reflect the company’s design evolution during the early 2000s.
