The M24/47 program took pre-war Model 24 rifles and updated them with a 23-inch barrel, streamlined handguard, and new serial number ranges. This example retains the full-length hardwood stock and handguard, both oil-finished in the traditional Yugoslav style.
An intermediate Mauser receiver—unique to Yugoslav production—shortens overall action length without sacrificing strength. All major components are fully milled steel, giving the rifle the dependable feel Mauser collectors expect.
The hooded inverted-V front sight and ladder tangent rear sight provide the traditional sight picture of military Mausers, adjustable for ranges out to 2,000 meters. A standard bayonet lug on the front band supports original M1924 bayonets (not included).
Importation in the 1990s brought many unissued M24/47s to the U.S.; however, rifles showing honest field wear, like this one, offer clear service character while still retaining matching numbers and a clean bore—attributes appreciated by shooters and historians alike.
