The GI Standard FS is machined from 4140 steel for both the frame and slide, giving the pistol a solid feel and long service life. The matte dark gray Parkerized finish resists corrosion while maintaining a period-correct appearance.
Series-70 internals omit a firing-pin safety, yielding a straightforward design and a clean, consistent single-action break. A short, solid aluminum trigger and spur hammer replicate original M1911A1 controls.
