Colt Combat Commander Series 70 .45 ACP Satin Nickel 4.25" (1982)
This factory Colt Combat Commander Series 70 pairs the proven 1911 platform with a scarcer satin nickel finish, pre-Series 80 internals, and a compact 4.25-inch barrel. Manufactured in 1982, it offers collectors an original steel-frame Commander from the desirable Series 70 era, while shooters gain the quick handling and full-power .45 ACP performance that made the model famous.

Colt’s satin nickel finish was an optional upgrade in the early 1980s, and far fewer Combat Commanders left the factory in this trim than the standard blued version. The finish provides a subdued, low-glare surface that also resists corrosion better than polished nickel.
As a true Series 70, this pistol retains the original trigger system without the additional firing-pin safety found on later Series 80 guns. Collectors value this design for its lighter, cleaner break and historical correctness.
The carbon-steel slide and frame house Colt’s 4.25-inch Commander barrel, striking a balance between the full-size Government Model and the shorter Officer’s ACP. Vertical rear serrations on the slide give sure purchase during chambering.
Aftermarket Pachmayr wrap-around grips add finger grooves and checkered rubber texture for improved control during rapid fire. They can be removed easily if a period-correct look is desired.
Safety features include the classic 1911 grip safety, manual thumb safety, and inertia firing pin. A ring hammer, fixed sights, and a short solid trigger complete the authentic Commander profile.
