Rock Island Armory designed the XT 22 Magnum FS to bridge the gap between rimfire fun and centerfire feel. Its carbon-steel frame and slide mirror the weight and balance of a duty-size 1911, delivering a training platform that handles like a service pistol but shoots affordable .22 WMR.
The heart of the XT series is its delayed-blowback action. Combined with a pinned bull barrel and six-groove, 1:16 twist rifling, the system keeps the slide closed just long enough for consistent velocity and reliable cycling with high-pressure rimfire rounds.
A skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop promotes a crisp break, while the beavertail grip safety and extended thumb safety provide familiar 1911 controls. A bright orange fiber-optic front sight and low-profile fixed rear sight offer quick target acquisition without snagging on gear.
The pistol ships with a 14-round single-stack magazine, maximizing capacity without altering grip dimensions. The XTM serial prefix confirms this model’s place in RIA’s dedicated .22 WMR lineup, which continues in production as of 2025.
