Colt Python Second Generation .357 Magnum Revolver — 4.25-Inch Stainless, 2020 “PY0” Early Run
The re-engineered Colt Python debuted in 2020, and this early “PY0”-prefix revolver shows why the model’s revival drew instant attention. Built with a reinforced top-strap that adds roughly 30 percent more steel, it delivers the classic Python profile with modern strength. Factory semi-bright stainless steel, target-grade walnut stocks, and user-swappable sights give this full-size .357 Magnum a combination of heritage styling and shooter-friendly updates that stand out to both collectors and range enthusiasts.

Introduced for 2020, the second-generation Python retains the ventilated rib, full under-lug, and recessed-crown barrel that defined the original, now rendered in corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The 4.25-inch tube balances quick handling with optimal velocity for both .357 Magnum and .38 Special loads.
Internal geometry was redesigned for a smoother DA pull, while the semi-wide, smooth-face trigger and wide serrated spur hammer maintain familiar Colt ergonomics. The updated action rides in a strengthened frame that shrugs off magnum pressures yet preserves the svelte Python silhouette.
Sighting is fast and adaptable thanks to the red-ramp front blade housed in a user-swappable dovetail and a fully adjustable rear blade. Together with the 1:14 LH rifling twist, they let shooters wring out the revolver’s inherent precision.
Six counter-bored chambers in the fluted cylinder fully enclose cartridge rims, a hallmark Python touch that protects casings and looks clean. The checkered walnut target stocks anchor the revolver naturally in the hand and round out its period-correct styling.
Proudly built in the USA, this early-run Python blends the legacy of Colt’s premier wheel-gun with solid engineering updates, making it a standout example for anyone seeking a modern production classic.
