DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 Classic 16-Inch .308 Win AR-10 Rifle — Serial #71509 — Early St. Cloud Production, Threaded Barrel, 20-Round Mags
This LR-308 Classic is an early St. Cloud, Minnesota production rifle that helped set today’s DPMS-pattern standard for large-frame ARs. Built around a billet lower receiver with an integral trigger guard, it pairs a 16-inch chrome-moly barrel and mid-length gas system to deliver dependable .308 Winchester performance in a compact, full-size package. With its original four-prong flash suppressor, detachable carry-handle sights, and fixed A2 furniture, this example stays true to the first-generation configuration that collectors and shooters look for.

What’s Included
- Three 20-round steel SR-25 / LR-308 pattern magazines with longitudinal strengthening ribs
- Harris-style spring-loaded folding bipod (clamp-on to handguard cap)
The 16-inch 4140/4150 chrome-moly barrel features a medium profile, 1:10 right-hand twist, and 5/8-24 threads capped by a period-correct four-prong flash suppressor. This setup balances maneuverability with the ballistic performance .308 shooters expect.
The billet-machined lower receiver includes an integral trigger guard and mates to a matching upper, both finished in black hard-coat anodizing. This early receiver set was produced in St. Cloud before DPMS moved operations, adding collector interest.
A mid-length gas system ensures smooth cycling, while the direct-impingement action keeps parts common with other DPMS-pattern rifles. The rifle accepts standard SR-25 / LR-308 magazines—three are included.
Fixed A2 polymer stock with a trapdoor butt-plate and an A2 pistol grip provide a familiar feel. Round polymer handguards keep weight down and offer a mounting point for the included clamp-on bipod.
Sighting is handled by the integral A2 front post and a detachable carry-handle aperture rear sight, leaving the flattop receiver ready for optics thanks to its integral rail.
