FN Browning Superposed Magnum Grade I 12 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun – 30" Vent-Rib, 3" Chamber, 1961 Belgian Build
This 1961 FN-made Browning Superposed Magnum Grade I is an early 3-inch magnum variant of John M. Browning’s final shotgun design. The 30-inch chrome-moly Special Steel barrels are factory-fixed at Modified over Full, making this gun ready for high-brass magnum loads while retaining tight patterns for waterfowl or clays. The ventilated rib promotes quick heat dissipation and a clear sighting plane, ending in a bright front steel bead.
Its blued receiver carries the factory Grade I scroll engraving that remains sharp and well-defined. Belgian proof marks, including the crowned ELG oval and starred inspection stamps, confirm its Liège origin and passing of proof testing.
The single selective trigger is gold-plated and pairs with a tang-mounted safety/selector for intuitive barrel choice. All major parts—barrels, fore-end iron, and receiver—share matching serial numbers, supporting the gun’s collectible integrity.
A gloss-finished walnut stock with the desirable round-knob pistol grip and a slender fore-end provide the classic Superposed handling profile. Browning’s factory ventilated recoil pad delivers a 14-inch length of pull and softens 3-inch magnum recoil without altering the gun’s lines.
