Winchester Model 120 Ranger 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun, 28-Inch Vent-Rib Barrel, 1983 New Haven Manufacture
Winchester’s Model 120 Ranger delivers classic 1980s New Haven craftsmanship in a trim, reliable 12 gauge pump. Produced in 1983, this transitional model bridges the gap between the Model 1200 and later 1300 lines, offering the same three-lug rotary bolt, a vent-rib Winchester Proof Steel barrel, and factory-threaded Winchoke tubes—features that make it both collectible and practical for the field.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 120 Ranger 12 Gauge shotgun
- Installed Winchester Modified Winchoke tube
Winchester introduced the Ranger series as a budget-friendly variant sold through big-box retailers, yet it retained key mechanical elements of the premium line. Collectors appreciate this 120 Ranger for its L-prefix serial, confirming 1983 New Haven assembly—one of the last Connecticut-built pump guns before later production shifts.
The 28-inch Winchester Proof Steel barrel wears a ventilated rib for a clear sight picture and houses interchangeable Winchoke tubes, an innovation that appeared on only the final years of the 120/1200 series. The installed Modified tube provides versatile performance for upland game and clays; additional tubes can be swapped in seconds.
A three-lug rotary bolt locks solidly into the barrel extension, promoting smooth cycling and dependable lock-up. The action feeds 2 ¾- and 3-inch shells from a four-round tubular magazine, making the gun suitable for everything from target work to waterfowl.
The aluminum alloy receiver carries a matte blued finish that pairs with an oil-finished straight-comb hardwood stock and ribbed fore-arm. A ventilated rubber recoil pad, 14-inch length of pull, and brass front bead round out a package that handles quickly while taming 12 gauge recoil.
