Ruger M77 Tang-Safety .257 Roberts Bolt-Action Rifle, 22" Barrel, 1980 Production, Simmons 3-9×40 Scope
Built in 1980 and chambered in the less-common .257 Roberts, this original tang-safety Ruger M77 pairs classic lines with Ruger’s investment-cast steel strength. Limited early-production numbers in this caliber, factory-machined scope bases, and a straight-grained walnut stock make it a desirable rifle for shooters and collectors alike.

What’s Included

The rifle is an early push-feed M77 with the two-position tang safety that many shooters favor for its intuitive operation. The 22-inch tapered sporter barrel and 1:10 RH twist are well-matched to the .257 Roberts cartridge, offering flat trajectories and mild recoil.
Ruger’s integral scope bases are machined directly into the blued alloy-steel receiver, ensuring a solid optic mount without additional hardware. Factory Ruger rings are already fitted, holding the included Simmons 3-9×40 VRC Deerfield scope with a 1-inch tube.
The straight-comb walnut stock features Ruger’s lightning-bolt checkering, a red Ruger recoil pad with black spacer, and factory sling-swivel studs. These classic cues, combined with the blued finish, give the rifle its recognizable M77 look.
Internally, the M77 uses two opposed front locking lugs on a polished bolt body and feeds from a four-round internal magazine with a hinged floorplate. A Ruger eagle proof mark on the barrel affirms its U.S. manufacture.
