This Pietta 1858 New Model Army is a faithful, shootable reproduction of the Civil War–era Remington revolver. Built in 2011 at Pietta’s facility in Gardone Val Trompia, it features an 8-inch octagonal barrel, a solid top-strap frame, and modern steel construction that gives the classic design contemporary durability. Clear Gardone proof marks and the Italian date code “CH” verify its manufacture and inspection year. What’s Included
- F.lli Pietta instruction manual
- Cabela's muzzleloading manual
- Brass snail-style percussion capper
The revolver’s carbon-steel frame, barrel, and cylinder are polished and deeply blued, matching the period-correct look while resisting modern corrosion. A brass trigger guard and steel backstrap complete the classic Remington profile.
The 8-inch octagonal barrel delivers a long sight radius for steady aim, and the dovetailed blade front post pairs with a notch in the top-strap for a simple, reliable sight picture.
Single-action percussion operation mirrors the original 1858 mechanism. An exposed hammer, under-barrel loading lever, and six-round cylinder preserve historical accuracy while using modern metallurgy for strength.
Walnut grips are hand-fitted to the frame, providing a secure, period-authentic feel that balances the revolver’s 8-inch barrel and solid frame.
Proofed in 2011 and marked with the Gardone stamp, this Italian-made reproduction satisfies both reenactors seeking authenticity and shooters wanting a dependable black-powder sidearm.
