The first-generation Springfield Armory XD-40 Sub-Compact pairs a 3-inch forged carbon-steel barrel with a short, double-stack grip, offering full-power .40 S&W performance in a carry-size package. Manufactured by HS Produkt in Croatia and finished in durable black Melonite inside and out, this striker-fired pistol features both grip and trigger safeties, plus loaded-chamber and striker-status indicators built into the slide for instant visual and tactile status checks.

This XD-40 Sub-Compact is built on a rugged polymer frame with aggressive, molded checkering and a finger groove that locks the hand in place despite the snappy .40 S&W cartridge. The ambidextrous magazine release supports either-hand operation, and an under-barrel accessory rail accommodates compact weapon lights or lasers.
The slide is machined from carbon steel and treated with a Melonite nitrocarburized finish for exceptional corrosion and wear resistance. Forward and rear grasping serrations make press checks and manipulations easy, even with gloved or wet hands.
Integrated safety systems include a grip safety, a blade-style trigger safety, a striker block, and a disassembly lockout, providing multiple passive layers of protection without adding levers to manipulate. A prominent loaded-chamber indicator atop the slide and a striker-status indicator at the rear offer instant status feedback.
Fixed three-dot sights consist of a white-dot front post and a steel, drift-adjustable two-dot rear, delivering a familiar sight picture that is quick to acquire. The compact slide length and short grip aid concealability, while the included extended magazines bring the capacity to 10 + 1 rounds when more purchase is desired.
