Rossi Model 31 Nickel .38 Special 5-Shot Snub Revolver – Interarms Import
This pre-Taurus Rossi Model 31 offers a compact, 5-shot .38 Special package in a less common factory nickel finish. Imported by Interarms in the late 1970s–80s, it features a short 2.4-inch barrel, carbon-steel construction, and classic checkered walnut grips. Collectors will note the “D” serial prefix and the nickel variant’s lower production numbers compared with standard blued guns.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair – Extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good – Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: The nickel finish shows discoloration with scattered blemishes, scratches, and light pitting. The barrel was shortened, leaving partial factory markings visible. Despite external wear, the bore remains clean and shiny.
What’s Included
- Rossi Model 31 revolver
The Model 31 is Rossi’s early analogue to the Smith & Wesson J-frame, delivering a familiar double-action/single-action trigger system and an exposed spur hammer in an easily concealed platform.
Its compact 2.4-inch barrel retains an underlug for added weight and balance. Though shortened from the factory length, the cut remains clean, and the bore integrity is unaffected.
The nickel finish, while visibly worn, provides an extra layer of corrosion resistance and sets this piece apart from the more prevalent blued examples produced in the same era.
Safety is handled by a transfer-bar system and hammer-block, allowing the revolver to be carried with all five chambers loaded. Fixed iron sights—ramp front and square-notch rear—offer a simple, snag-free sight picture suited to everyday carry.
