This Shield Plus model is the current Optics Ready variant with slide cut to the Shield-pattern footprint, allowing the factory-mounted Viridian RFX15 to sit low for a natural sight picture. The 3.1-inch stainless barrel and slide wear Smith & Wesson’s durable black Armornite finish for enhanced environmental resistance.
The pistol’s micro-compact polymer frame retains the proven M&P 18-degree grip angle while adding full 360° texture for consistent control under recoil. Integrated stainless steel chassis rails provide rigidity, and fish-scale front and rear serrations aid slide manipulation.
A flat-face, hinged trigger offers a crisp break with a tactile and audible reset, complemented by internal safeties that include a striker block, trigger-safety tab, and sear de-activation lever for tool-free takedown. This specific configuration deletes the external thumb safety for a streamlined profile.
Factory tritium night sights feature an orange-ring front and two-dot rear, giving a clear sight picture in all lighting even when the optic is removed. The magazine design allows a 13-round flush-fit capacity—largest in its class—while a 10-round magazine enables deeper concealment when needed.
