What’s Included
- Mossberg Model 500E / Western Field M550ED .410 Bore pump-action shotgun
Built for Montgomery Ward as the Western Field M550ED, this shotgun is mechanically identical to Mossberg’s 500E but carries private-label roll marks. Collectors appreciate these store-brand variants for their period-correct markings and limited production runs.
The 26-inch plain barrel is held in place by a threaded magazine cap and wears a polished blue finish that contrasts with the matte black anodized receiver. A factory-machined fixed Full choke delivers tight patterns and predates Mossberg’s later Accu-Choke system, offering an original 1960s configuration.
The aluminum alloy receiver locks up with a steel bolt, keeping overall weight around 6 lb without sacrificing strength. Dual action bars provide smooth, reliable cycling, and the bottom load/eject layout keeps spent hulls out of the shooter’s line of sight.
A top-tang ambidextrous safety allows instant status checks and makes the gun friendly to both right- and left-handed users. The hardwood stock features a 14-inch length of pull and a satin oil finish, while the rib-grooved hardwood slide handle gives a sure grip without checkering.
