Marlin Model 70P “Papoose” .22 LR Takedown Semi-Auto Rifle, 16.25" Barrel, 7+1
Marlin’s Model 70P Papoose is a lightweight, takedown .22 LR designed for packability and on-the-go shooting. Weighing just 3.25 lb and equipped with a quick-detach 16.25-inch barrel, this rifle breaks down in seconds and stores in its factory floating case, keeping the sights mounted on the barrel so zero stays true after reassembly.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good – Shows some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Excellent – Bright, clean, mirror finish with sharp lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: Light handling marks and isolated finish loss are present on the metal surfaces, consistent with normal field use.
What’s Included
- Marlin Papoose padded floating carry case (red nylon)
- One 7-round detachable steel magazine with orange follower
The 70P’s Micro-Groove rifled chrome-moly barrel delivers reliable accuracy while reducing fouling. Because the entire sight system—ramp front blade and elevator-adjustable rear—is fixed to the barrel, point of aim remains consistent each time the rifle is reassembled.
An alloy receiver and matte-blued finish keep weight down without sacrificing durability. The hardwood stock offers a 13.5-inch length of pull, giving most shooters a comfortable fit in a compact package.
Operation is a simple blowback semiauto, fed by a detachable 7-round magazine that is interchangeable with Marlin Model 795 mags. Controls include a paddle-style magazine release, manual cross-bolt safety, and top-mounted charging handle—features that are easy to reach even when wearing gloves.
The factory padded case not only organizes the disassembled rifle but also floats, adding peace of mind for canoeists, hikers, and anyone who may be around water.
