This custom-configured Savage Model 11 pairs the company’s accurate 24-inch bull barrel with a Boyd’s grey laminated thumbhole stock, creating a stable, purpose-built platform for varmint and target work. Early-2000s “J” prefix production brings the floating bolt head and barrel-nut system that helped make Savage rifles a favorite for precise, budget-friendly shooting.

Bore Rifling: Excellent — sharp lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: Surfaces display minimal handling marks, and the matte blued finish retains strong, even color. The grey laminate stock is free of cracks or chips and maintains crisp edges. Bore is bright with strong rifling and no visible fouling.

At the core of this rifle is a 24-inch carbon-steel heavy contour barrel capped with a recessed crown for consistent bullet exit and reduced muzzle disturbance. The bull profile helps manage heat during extended strings, keeping groups tight.
The Boyd’s laminated hardwood Varmint Thumbhole stock adds rigidity and ergonomics. Its rollover cheek piece aligns the eye naturally with optics, while the ventilated fore-end allows for barrel cooling. A rubber recoil pad and 13.75-inch length of pull round out the fit.
Savage’s floating bolt head and barrel-nut system maintain precise headspacing shot after shot. A tang-mounted safety offers intuitive, ambidextrous control without breaking firing-hand grip.
The receiver is drilled, tapped, and already fitted with Weaver-style bases, so mounting a scope is straightforward. Feeding is handled by a center-feed detachable box magazine holding four rounds of .223 Remington, giving a total capacity of 4+1.
