This SFAR uses Ruger’s small-frame architecture, trimming weight while retaining standard .308 parts compatibility. Venting ports in the upper receiver, bolt carrier, and barrel extension manage excess gas for smoother cycling, especially with the 4-position adjustable gas block tuned to ammunition or suppressor use.
The 16.1-inch 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel is cold hammer forged, nitrided for corrosion resistance, and cut with 5R rifling for easier cleaning and excellent accuracy. A 5/8-24 threaded muzzle comes factory-installed with a Ruger 2-port muzzle brake to reduce recoil and muzzle rise.
A 15-inch free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard and continuous Picatinny top rail provide ample space for optics and accessories. The forged upper includes a forward assist, shell deflector, and dust cover, while the flared magwell speeds reloads.
Controls are shooter-focused: an ambidextrous-latch charging handle, Ruger Elite 452 two-stage trigger with a 4.5-pound pull, and a six-position telescoping polymer stock paired with a Magpul MOE pistol grip for ergonomic handling.
Whether you’re building a lightweight hunting rig or a versatile range rifle, the SFAR’s combination of small-frame weight, .308 power, and Ruger reliability makes it a standout option in the modern semi-auto rifle market.
