This Buntline variant was offered from 1970 to 1977, and 1976 examples are sought after for their bicentennial provenance. The 7.5-inch carbon-steel barrel provides a long sight radius, while the fixed iron sights replicate the familiar Single-Action Army layout.
Colt fitted this revolver with a color-case-hardened frame, blued barrel, and blued cylinders, creating a striking two-tone appearance straight from the factory. The alloy grip frame wears black checkered one-piece synthetic grips bearing the Rampant Colt medallion, giving the gun a period-correct look with enhanced durability.
The convertible design adds real utility. Swap cylinders in seconds to move from inexpensive .22 LR practice to the flatter-shooting .22 WMR cartridge without changing point of aim. Both cylinders are factory-fit, ensuring proper timing and lock-up.
Internally, the single-action mechanism delivers the crisp hammer pull and positive lock for which Colt rimfire Peacemakers are known. The clean bore and strong rifling support solid accuracy, and the revolver’s smooth rotation confirms careful prior ownership.
