Hand-built in Eibar, Spain during the 1960s, this Vda. E Hijos de J.J. Sarasqueta Sidelock delivers the classic Spanish game gun experience with Holland & Holland-pattern lockplates, factory game-scene engraving, and chopper-lump steel barrels. Chambered for 2 3/4-inch 12 gauge shells and carrying Modified and Full chokes, it pairs traditional field utility with collectible sidelock construction.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Fouling: Mild Fouling – Light buildup of fouling or dirt.
The barrels display noticeable finish loss and handling marks. The forend does not stay fully secured and may require light gunsmith attention to the latch mechanism.

This sidelock features hand-removable lockplates patterned after the celebrated Holland & Holland design, giving the gun a refined internal mechanism and easy access for maintenance.
The 27.5-inch chopper-lump steel barrels are Spanish-proofed at 850 kg and chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells. Looking down the sight plane, the right barrel carries a Modified choke while the left holds a Full choke, providing a versatile field combination.
A coin-silver receiver hosts factory scroll and game-scene engraving with partridge and quail motifs. Matching engraving continues onto the lockplates, top lever, and trigger guard, underscoring the maker’s attention to detail.
The walnut stock shows semi-pistol grip geometry and wrap-around checkering for a secure grasp. Factory sling-swivel eyes reflect Spanish hunting practice, while the aftermarket Red Head ventilated pad sets the length of pull at 13 inches and softens recoil.
Spanish Eibar proof marks, star-over-letter inspector stamps, and “MADE IN SPAIN” export markings confirm its period manufacture and export history.
