This Performance Center 9 Recon is part of a scarce 418-pistol production run created in the mid-1990s as an “Enhanced Shorty” variant of the Model 6906. Built by Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center, it features a hand-lapped slide-to-frame fit, match-grade stainless barrel with a Briley-style spherical bushing, and a distinctive two-tone Armornite slide over a clear-anodized alloy frame. Collectors value the Recon series for its limited availability, precision workmanship, and compact DA/SA design.

The black Armornite-finished slide sports front and rear cocking serrations and is hand-lapped to the clear-anodized aluminum alloy frame for a tight, smooth action. A spurless bobbed hammer and smooth-faced trigger support snag-free, controlled double-action/single-action operation.
The 3.5 in. match-grade stainless barrel is paired with a Briley-style spherical bushing, enhancing lock-up consistency for improved accuracy in a compact package. Factory 20 LPI front-strap checkering and the installed Hogue finger-groove grip provide secure, comfortable control.
Sighting equipment includes a white-dot dovetail front blade and a Novak Low-Mount rear sight, giving a clean sight picture while preserving the pistol’s low-profile silhouette. An ambidextrous decocker adds familiar Smith & Wesson safety functionality.
