Erma Werke Model E M1.22 .22 LR Semi-Automatic M1 Carbine-Style Rifle, West German, 18" Barrel
This West-German Erma Werke Model E M1.22 is a scaled rimfire copy of the U.S. M1 Carbine, combining classic wartime styling with economical .22 LR operation. Early “Erma-Werke / Made in Germany” roll marks, a blued steel receiver, and a hardwood beech stock make this example attractive to collectors who appreciate post-war German craftsmanship.

Erma-Werke introduced the Mod. E M1.22 in the 1960s as part of its transition from military contracts to sporting arms. The design mirrors the profile and controls of the GI M1 Carbine but operates on a simple blowback action tailored to .22 LR.
This rifle retains its original blued finish over a steel receiver and 18" barrel, complemented by West-German nitro proof marks. The clear-coated beech stock features the classic sling slot and oiler tunnel, delivering a 13" length of pull that feels familiar to anyone accustomed to surplus carbines.
The right-side charging handle, fixed blade front sight on a squared barrel band, and adjustable aperture rear sight replicate military-issue sighting arrangements, offering fast target acquisition and easy windage/elevation adjustments.
Erma’s proprietary magazines feed reliably; while this sale includes a 5-round mag, the carbine accepts factory magazines up to 15 rounds for extended range sessions or training drills.
