Smith & Wesson M&P45 First-Generation .45 ACP Full-Size Pistol – No Thumb Safety, Armornite Finish, 4.5" Barrel
This early first-generation Smith & Wesson M&P45 combines the stout .45 ACP chambering with the proven M&P polymer platform. Distinctive fish-scale slide serrations, an Armornite-treated stainless slide and barrel, and a clean frame devoid of both thumb safety and magazine disconnect set this example apart for shooters who prefer a straightforward, duty-ready sidearm.

The M&P45 launched Smith & Wesson’s .45 ACP entry in the M&P line, and this first-generation gun shows the original fish-scale slide serrations that many shooters favor for their positive grip during press checks and manipulations.
Made without an external thumb safety or magazine disconnect, the pistol offers a consistent striker-fired pull aided by S&W’s hinged-shoe trigger with an integral safety bar. An internal sear-deactivation lever inside the mag well permits tool-less takedown without pulling the trigger.
The Armornite-finished stainless steel slide and 4.5-inch barrel resist corrosion while keeping weight down. Paired with a Zytel-blend polymer frame, the package delivers near-1911 capacity in a lighter, modern platform.
Ambidextrous slide stops and a reversible magazine release accommodate left- or right-handed users, and the interchangeable palm-swell backstrap system lets shooters tailor grip size—an innovation that set the early M&P series apart from many duty pistols of its era.
Steel 3-dot sights, a full-length accessory rail, and a 10+1 capacity make this M&P45 a practical choice for home defense, duty carry, or range work while retaining collector interest as an early production example.
