The EMP 4’s patented downsized action eliminates 17 standard 1911 parts, shortening the grip front to back and reducing circumference when paired with thin cocobolo grips. The result is a compact 9mm that points naturally and fits a wide range of hand sizes.
A fully supported, ramped match-grade bull barrel delivers consistent lock-up and feeds +P loads with confidence. Springfield’s flat-wire recoil spring system further tames muzzle flip and extends service life.
The pistol’s two-tone finish is both functional and attractive: a matte stainless slide for corrosion resistance and a black hard-coat anodized lightweight frame for everyday carry comfort. Factory 25-lpi Posi-Lock checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing enhances grip without snagging.
Sighting is fast thanks to a red fiber-optic front blade paired with a low-profile combat rear sight featuring two white dots. A skeletonized, match-grade trigger breaks at approximately 5 lb, while the Commander-style hammer accelerates lock time.
