This limited-production New Vaquero “Short Spur” combines Ruger’s proven single-action design with features requested by the Cowboy Fast Draw community and released exclusively through TALO distributors. Built entirely from polished stainless steel and chambered in classic .45 Colt, it sports a shortened hammer spur for faster thumb access, star-engraved hardwood grips, and a cold-hammer-forged barrel. Only a finite run of these revolvers was produced, making this 2019 example notable for both shooters and collectors.

The Short Spur variant was developed at the request of the Cowboy Fast Draw Association and inspired by SASS champion “T-Bone Dooley.” Its abbreviated hammer spur sits lower than the standard Vaquero, giving competitors a faster, more natural thumb reach while retaining full cocking leverage.
Ruger’s mid-size New Vaquero frame closely mirrors the original Colt Single Action Army dimensions, allowing easy fit with traditional SAA holsters and accessories while offering modern internals such as the transfer-bar safety and loading-gate interlock for carry with all six chambers loaded.
The 4.62-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel delivers durability and consistent rifling, and the reverse-indexing pawl permits precise cylinder alignment for smooth loading and unloading. A fluted six-shot cylinder, high-gloss polish, and star-engraved hardwood grips complete the classic Old West look in corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
