Conceived by AutoMag creator Harry Sanford as a lighter alternative to gas-operated magnum pistols, the AutoMag V uses a short-recoil, locked-breech action to tame the .50 AE cartridge. Dual compensator ports machined into both the 6.5-inch barrel and the slide vent gases upward, reducing muzzle rise for faster follow-up shots.
The pistol’s 17-4 stainless frame and slide wear a functional bead-blast and brushed finish that resists corrosion while maintaining a distinctive industrial look. Black synthetic grip panels give a secure hold without adding unnecessary weight.
Sight regulation is handled by an adjustable rear notch paired with a dovetailed front blade, allowing precise zeroing. A left-side thumb safety and a half-cock notch provide straightforward manual controls familiar to 1911 shooters.
