This 1990s Norinco MAK-90 Sporter is a post-1989 import adaptation of the Chinese Type 56-2 AKM, chambered in 7.62x39. The MAK-90’s 1.5 mm flat-side stamped receiver eliminates the traditional magazine-well dimples while providing extra material for rigidity. Coupled with a forged front trunnion, the receiver offers enhanced strength compared with many commercial AK variants.
Norinco retained a chrome-lined bore and chamber for durability and corrosion resistance. The barrel remains unthreaded to meet U.S. import regulations of the era, preserving its original Sporter configuration.
Furniture is original Chinese chu wood finished in blond lacquer. The thumb-hole stock includes a rubber recoil pad and delivers a 14.0" length of pull, giving the rifle a comfortable, sporter-style feel without straying from its AK roots.
