SIG Sauer SIG516 Patrol Gen 1 5.56 NATO FDE Semi-Auto Rifle
The SIG516 Patrol Gen 1 blends SIG Sauer’s proven short-stroke gas piston system with an AR-15 platform that is factory-finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote. A cold hammer forged, chrome-lined 16-inch barrel, free-floating quad-rail handguard, and B5 Systems Bravo stock give this rifle reliable performance and modular flexibility. Discontinued in 2018, the Gen 1 variant with its full quad-rail remains a sought-after configuration for shooters who value piston-driven reliability in a compact patrol-length carbine.

This SIG516 Patrol uses a short-stroke push-rod piston with a four-position regulator, giving the shooter the ability to tune the gas system for standard, adverse, suppressed, or off settings. The design reduces fouling in the action and enhances reliability across diverse conditions.
The 16-inch medium-profile barrel is cold hammer forged from steel, chrome-lined, and nitride-treated for durability and corrosion resistance. A 1:7 right-hand twist stabilizes a wide range of modern 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. projectile weights, and the muzzle is threaded for common flash hiders, brakes, or suppressor mounts.
A Troy-licensed MRF BattleRail quad-rail handguard free-floats the barrel, allowing accessories to be mounted without affecting barrel harmonics. Full-length Picatinny rails at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock make it easy to add lights, lasers, or vertical grips.
The upper and lower receivers are forged from 7075-T6 aluminum, Type III hard-coat anodized, and then coated in factory FDE Cerakote for added protection. A B5 Systems Bravo six-position collapsible stock and matching FDE polymer furniture complete the package while keeping weight manageable.
As a discontinued Gen 1 model with its original quad-rail configuration, this rifle offers collectors and shooters an opportunity to own a piston-driven SIG that has proven NATO “Over-the-Beach” reliability and factory FDE finish in a single, ready-to-run package.
