The XD-E stands out in the XD family by using an external spur hammer and a DA/SA trigger, giving shooters second-strike capability and a crisp single-action follow-up shot. Ambidextrous safety/decocker levers, magazine release, and slide stop make the controls fully bilateral straight from the factory.
Springfield’s Low-Effort Slide cuts racking force by roughly 27 percent, a feature especially helpful for rapid administrative handling or shooters with limited hand strength. Coupled with the Grip Zone textured polymer frame, the pistol stays controllable despite its powerful .45 ACP chambering.
The 3.3-inch hammer-forged barrel and forged carbon-steel slide both receive a corrosion-resistant Melonite treatment, offering increased surface hardness and wear protection. A bright red fiber-optic front sight teams with the low-profile steel rear to deliver a fast, clear sight picture in varied lighting.
