Product Description

    Springfield Armory M1A Bush Rifle Pre-Ban 7.62 NATO Semi-Auto, 18" Barrel, Choate Side-Folding Stock

Springfield Armory’s limited-run M1A Bush Rifle offers the proven M14 pattern in a handier, pre-ban package. Produced in the early 1990s, this variant combines an 18-inch chrome-moly barrel, factory three-prong flash suppressor, and a factory-option Choate side-folding stock. Its scarce production window, pre-1994 configuration, and use of a USGI Harrington & Richardson bolt make it an appealing choice for collectors seeking an authentic, hard-to-find carbine-length M1A.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very Good – shows only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.

Bore Condition: Excellent – clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent – sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle remains solid with scattered scratches and blemishes on the parkerized finish. Small areas of light rust and minor pitting are present but do not hinder function.

    What’s Included

    • Springfield Armory M1A Bush Rifle
    • Five 20-round Springfield Armory factory steel magazines (sealed in factory bags)

The Bush Rifle trims the standard M1A down to an 18-inch carbon-steel barrel with a 1:11 twist, giving users a balance of maneuverability and 7.62 NATO ballistics. The barrel retains a chrome-moly bore and ends in the correct M14 three-prong flash suppressor.

A factory-installed Choate fiberglass-reinforced polymer stock folds to the right, reducing the rifle’s length for storage or transport. The stock incorporates an integral pistol grip, ventilated composite handguard, and a rubber recoil pad for practical field use.

Unlike later Scout Squad models, this pre-ban configuration was produced only briefly before the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, making surviving examples uncommon. The inclusion of a USGI Harrington & Richardson-marked bolt further aligns it with original M14 component quality.

Standard M14 pattern sights are retained: a .062" National Match-style blade front with protective ears and a twin-knob, 0.0690" aperture rear sight. Combined with the rifle’s rigid 8620 steel receiver, they deliver repeatable accuracy from the bench or prone.
