Taurus PT945 HD Police .45 ACP Ported Stainless DA/SA Pistol
This discontinued PT945 HD Police variant blends full-steel durability with a factory-ported .45 ACP barrel and slide, delivering reduced muzzle rise in a compact, 8-round package. Built in limited numbers for a police contract overrun, it features a polished stainless finish, ambidextrous controls, and aftermarket high-gloss hardwood grips that set it apart for shooters and collectors alike.

What’s Included
- Taurus PT945 HD Police .45 ACP pistol
- Three 8-round steel magazines (single-stack, polymer basepads, witness holes numbered 6 & 8)
Originally released as a heavy-duty, all-steel alternative to the alloy-framed PT945, the HD Police model is recognizable by its “POLICE” roll-mark and factory porting. The dual six-port pattern vents gases upward through both barrel and slide, helping to keep the muzzle flat during rapid DA/SA strings.
Both frame and slide are milled from stainless steel and finished to a high polish, offering corrosion resistance and a clean, uniform look. Rear cocking serrations and lightening cuts on the slide aid manipulation without adding bulk.
The pistol retains Taurus’s proven DA/SA system with an ambidextrous safety/decocker, firing pin block, and inertial firing pin—features valued by duty users for their layered safety architecture. A commander-style hammer delivers reliable ignition while shortening lock time.
Aftermarket smooth, high-gloss hardwood panels replace the factory grips, adding visual warmth and a comfortable, snag-free surface. Single-stack magazines unique to the PT945 platform keep the grip slim while still offering 8-round capacity in .45 ACP.
With production ending around 2011 and only limited contract overruns reaching the civilian market—plus brief screen exposure in the film “U.S. Marshals”—the PT945 HD Police occupies a small but notable niche among modern Taurus collectibles.
