Kel-Tec introduced the PLR-16 in 2006 as one of the few 5.56 NATO pistols powered by a long-stroke piston rather than direct impingement. This operating system runs cleaner and helps manage heat in a compact format.
The 9.2-inch chrome-moly, nitrided barrel is threaded 1/2-28 TPI for easy attachment of muzzle devices or suppressors. A factory A-frame front sight tower is integrated, though the blade is removed; both front and rear sights are supplied but not installed, leaving the full-length Picatinny rail clear for optics.
A glass-fiber-reinforced polymer receiver and frame keep weight to just 3.4 pounds while maintaining rigidity. Steel inserts are used in high-stress areas for durability.
The pistol accepts standard AR-15 STANAG magazines, and this sale includes a generous package of ten mags—nine 30-rounders and one 10-rounder—providing ample capacity for range sessions or field use straight away.
