Colt Double Eagle Series 90 Mk II Officer’s ACP .45 ACP Compact Stainless DA/SA Pistol (1993)
This Mk II Colt Double Eagle Officer’s ACP blends the familiar 1911 platform with a rare double-action/single-action trigger and factory decocker. Built in 1993 and constructed entirely from matte stainless steel, it offers a compact 3.5-inch barrel, limited-run Mk II trigger improvements, and collectible DF-prefix serial status. Its short production span from 1989–1997 makes any Double Eagle desirable—this Officer-size variant is even harder to find, especially in complete, boxed form.

The Mk II redesign introduced an updated trigger unit that improved reliability over the first-generation Double Eagle. This pistol retains that enhancement, giving the shooter smoother DA pulls and crisp SA follow-ups without altering the classic 1911 feel.
Its Officer’s ACP configuration trims the barrel to 3.5 inches and shortens the grip frame, creating a compact sidearm that is easier to carry while still chambered in .45 ACP. Stainless steel construction throughout offers corrosion resistance and a uniform matte/brushed finish.
As Colt’s only production DA/SA 1911-pattern pistol, the Double Eagle stands apart from standard single-action Colts. The factory decocker mounted on the frame safely lowers the exposed hammer, adding a practical control rarely seen on other Colt semi-autos.
This example’s DF-prefix serial number confirms 1993 manufacture within the pistol’s limited 1989–1997 run. Combined with its Officer-size frame, original packaging, and single included magazine, it represents a complete and increasingly scarce package for Colt enthusiasts and Double Eagle collectors.
