Colt 1851 Navy 2nd Generation C-Series .36 Caliber Percussion Revolver, 7.5" Barrel, Factory Presentation-Cased Set (1971)
This early 2nd Generation C-Series Colt 1851 Navy was made in 1971 at Hartford using Italian-forged parts, then finished and assembled by Colt craftsmen. Matching serial number 4527 appears on all major components, and the revolver retains the classic Ormsby naval-battle cylinder scene, square-back silver-plated trigger guard, and color case-hardened frame that define desirable early C-Series production. Offered as a factory presentation-cased set with its original accessories, this example shows minimal evidence of firing and remains a standout piece for black-powder shooters and Colt collectors alike.

Early C-Series revolvers like this one were limited in production and are prized for their Hartford assembly and superior fit and finish. The square-back trigger guard and silver-plated grip strap replicate Colt’s first-year Navy pattern and add immediate visual appeal.
The 7.5-inch octagonal steel barrel wears a deep polished blue, while the case-hardened frame shows vivid mottled colors. The brass cone front sight pairs with the hammer-nose V-notch rear, replicating the original 1851 sight picture.
Inside, the 1:30 RH twist bore is bright with sharp rifling, indicating little to no black-powder fouling. All six chambers align precisely, and the single-action lock-work cycles crisply, reflecting careful factory assembly.
Included accessories round out a complete shooting or display package. The military-motif powder flask, double-cavity mold, nipple wrench, and original Colt cap tin match period Colt accoutrements and enhance the set’s collectability.
