This late-production Series 70 (serial suffix “B70”) represents the final year before Colt transitioned to the Series 80 firing-pin safety system. As such, it maintains the original Series 70 lockwork, valued for its lighter, cleaner trigger pull.
The four-finger collet barrel bushing unique to the Series 70 helps enhance accuracy by centering the muzzle consistently in the slide. Coupled with the 5-inch carbon-steel barrel and tight slide-to-frame fit, it delivers reliable precision with standard .45 ACP loads.
Colt’s polished blue finish showcases a deep, high-gloss luster that brings out the flats of the slide and frame. Checkered walnut double-diamond grips with inset gold Colt medallions provide a classic aesthetic and secure purchase.
Vertical rear cocking serrations, a spur hammer, and fixed iron sights (staked ramp front, dovetailed rear notch) complete the traditional Government Model profile. Thumb and grip safeties, along with the single-action trigger, remain unchanged from John Browning’s original design.
