Norinco MAK-90 Sporter Factory 386 7.62x39 Semi-Automatic Rifle – Chinese 1.5 mm Stamped Receiver, Chrome-Lined 16.25" Barrel
This MAK-90 Sporter from Norinco’s Factory 386 offers collectors a clean, early-1990s Chinese AKM-pattern rifle that was imported only between 1990 and 1994. It features a heavier 1.5 mm stamped receiver, a chrome-lined and unthreaded 16.25" barrel, and its original hardwood thumb-hole stock set. Matching serial numbers on the major components and a sharp, mirror-bright bore further enhance its appeal to buyers seeking a well-preserved example of a banned-import era MAK-90.

What’s Included

The rifle is built on Norinco’s straight-cut 1.5 mm stamped sheet-steel receiver, giving it added rigidity compared with the more common 1.0 mm pattern. The original I.D.E. INC Southfield, MI import mark and distinctive Norinco five-point star with Arsenal 386 code remain crisp and legible.
Compliant with the 1989 Import Ban, the barrel is chrome-lined for durability yet left unthreaded and without a bayonet lug. These features, paired with the long-stroke gas piston system and paddle-style magazine release, preserve the classic AK operating feel while meeting period regulations.
Furniture consists of Chinese hardwood handguards and a matching thumb-hole buttstock finished in glossy brown lacquer. The stock includes an integral sling swivel and a vented rubber recoil pad, while maintaining a 14.0" length of pull for comfortable shouldering.
Sights are the traditional open post front with protective ears and a rear tangent leaf graduated from 100 to 800 meters, plus a D-setting battle notch. The two-position safety lever and standard AK controls keep operation familiar for users of the platform.
Taken together, this rifle presents a lightly handled, intact example of a limited-window Chinese import that combines collectible status with the robust build quality enthusiasts expect from Factory 386.
